    Villa Savoye

Located in Poissy, close to L’Esturgeon, the Villa Savoye has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2016. Built in the 1930s by the famous avant-garde architect Le Corbusier, it is a house designed as a summer resort, featuring all the desirable comforts (central heating, running water, electricity etc.) to accommodate the Savoye family for their stays in the countryside.

At the time, the land was a meadow with a rural feel, overlooking the Seine and offering a pleasant, light-filled view. Le Corbusier made a point of respecting this natural heritage, imagining the house as an ornament that would “rest on the grass like an object without disturbing anything”.

The Villa Savoye benefits from the architect’s years of experience and experimentation. It uses modern materials, notably concrete, and opens wide onto the surrounding panorama, enjoying magnificent natural light.

Listed as a historic monument since 1965 and now the property of the French State, the Villa Savoye can be visited all year round during your next visit to the hotel-restaurant L’Esturgeon in Poissy.

    Château de Versailles

The Château de Versailles, French second most visited tourist attraction, is located in the Yvelines department, some twenty kilometers from Poissy.
An architectural masterpiece and symbol of the Sun King’s absolute power, it sits on an estate of over 800 hectares, which includes the château, gardens, park, Trianon and various outbuildings, including the stables.

The Château de Versailles attracts tourists from all over the world, thanks to the famous Galerie des Glaces, the grand apartments of the King and Queen, the ponds and fountains that punctuate the gardens with their poetic silhouettes, the Queen’s Hamlet, dear to Marie-Antoinette, and the Salle du Jeu de Paume, where one of the most famous pages in the history of the French Revolution was written. The principal architects and gardeners of Versailles, Charles Le Brun, André Le Nôtre and Louis Le Vau, have moved on to posterity.

Maison de Fer de Poissy (or maison Eiffel)

The Maison de Fer, also known as the Maison Eiffel, takes its name from the materials with which it was built. In effet, its entire structure as well as its walls and roof are made of metal. Today, it stands as a symbol of an era when, in a florissant industrial context, metal constructions conveyed an image of modernity and ease.

Built at the end of the 19th century and inhabited for almost 80 years, the property then became the property of the State before being bought back, in a state of ruin (following the storm of 1999), by the City of Poissy.

A vast project of renovation and recovery of the original parts was then undertaken, in order to rehabilitate, store and reuse them during the reconstruction. The other rooms were reproduced identically, in order to offer visitors as authentic an experience as possible.

Inaugurated in September 2020, the Iron House now welcomes the public, as well as educational initiatives, cultural events, a documentation center and guinguette evenings. The ideal place to take your mind off your next visit to Poissy!
